Cecilia was united in marriage on August 25, 1956 to her late husband, James J. Cassidy Jr.
Cecilia was a life long home maker who loved raising her children. Cecilia devoted her whole life to her family. Cecilia was a foster grandparent with the Mora Schools. In 1996 she was selected as care giver of the year by THC of Albuquerque for taking care of both her mother and her husband. Cecilia was an election official in Mora County for many years.
A life long Catholic, she was a member of the San Antonio Catholic Church in Cleveland and the Saint Gertrude's Catholic Church in Mora.
Cecilia was preceded in death by her parents, Pedro and Josefita Romero, husband, James J. Cassidy Jr., her sisters, Rose and Angi and brothers, Manuel and Bernie.
Cecilia is survived by her loving children, Selso Romero, Nora J. Romero, (Michael Berg), Michael Cassidy (Mell), Bertha Cassidy, Mark Cassidy (Geri), Matthew Cassidy (Theresa) and Jim Cassidy (Anita). Cecilia was blessed with 19 grandchildren, Alberta (Anthony), Tony (Melissa), RoseAnn(Everett), Marissa, Natalia (Randy), Jeanette (Jason), Christopher (Tina), Heather (Manuel), Jason, Craig, Beverlee, Jaclyn (Jerome), Derek (Tasha), Jade, Paige (Tony), Cody, James, Mercedes and Eric. Cecilia has 30 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Cecilia will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Rosary devotional services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at the St. Gertrude's Catholic Church in Mora. Mass and funeral services will take place on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Gertrude's Catholic Church with Father James Sánchez as celebrant. Interment will follow at the St. Anthony Cemetery at the Cassidy family Plot in Cleveland. Serving as casket bearers will be her sons, Michael Cassidy, Mark Cassidy, Matthew Cassidy, Jim Cassidy, Selso Romero and Tony Romero. Honorary casket bearers will be her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
