Simeon Avery served in Capt. Joseph Morgan's
that marched to the relief of Fort William Henry, Aug., 1757 (French and Indian War Rolls, 1:197). He moved to Orford, where he was a deacon of the Congregational church and an innkeeper for many years. He kept the first ferry across the Connecticut River.
