History of Newbury, Vermont notes this internment as a Revolutionary Soldier.

He is the son of Simeon and Sarah (Niles) Avery. He married Anna Ayers on Feb 20,1782 at Hebron,CT.

Nathan Avery was in Capt. Edward Mott's company, 1776; was in the
battle of White Plains; was discharged at New Castle, late in 1776; served three months in 1779, at Fort Trumbull; served two tours of three months each, terminating at Fort Griswold, Sept. 6, 1781; applied, June, 1832, for a pension which was granted (Pension Bureau Records, & Conn. Men in the Revolution, 617). He was a farmer, and lived at Fairlee VT and Orford, NH, and at Newbury, Vt.
