CLOSING OF YOUNG BEAUTIFUL YOUNG LIFE

Miss Irene House Succumbs to Long Illness. Interment at Martin Thursday.

Miss Irene, second daughter of State Highway Commissioner and Mrs. W. W. House died at the family residence in Dresden Wednesday about mid-day, after a long illness. Irene was 19 years of age. She was born at Hyndsver, where Mr. House was for a number of years engaged in mercantile business. Shortly after coming to Dresden, she united with the Methodist church under the pastorate of Rev. W. D. Pickens. She remained true and steadfast to her church obligations. She was a regular attendant upon divine worship. She was a favorite with the young people of her age and was loved and admired by the older people for her sweet, cheerful disposition, and though she had been very low for several weeks just preceding her death, the news Wednesday caused profound sorrow throughout the community. She was cut down in the first flush of young womanhood, when life was just unfolding, so pure and so beautiful so full of hope to her. But the grim reaper Death is no respecter of persons. He fastens his icy fangs upon the old and the young. He visits the mansion and the lowly cottage by the wayside. Funeral services were conducted from the Methodist church Thursday, at 1 p. m. by Rev. W. D. Pickens, of Milan, assisted by Revs. S. L. Jewell and T. N. Hale. Interment at East View cemetery, Martin. Attending the funeral and interment were state officials from Nashville and many friends from this and adjoining counties. The floral tributes were the largest in number and the prettiest ever seen at funeral here. Mr. and Mrs. House and family have the profound sympathy of every citizen of the town.
