Death Of Henry Roach.
"Sweetwater, July 25, 1884 (then in Esmeralda County; now in Mineral County, NV). Henry Roach, one of the oldest and best known residents of this section, died at his home in the beautiful little valley at Sweetwater, where he had passed many years, on Tuesday afternoon, greatly lamented by all who had known him. He died contented, surrounded by his loving and sorrowing family, and leaves a void in our neighborhood which it will be hard to fill. He left a wife and eight children, most of the latter being grown, and in comfortable circumstances. He was a native of County of Mayo, Ireland and was sixty five years of age. Those who knew him best know he was a man of generous impulses, truly the poor man's friend, his door always being open to the hungry and distressed. Two days before his death he told his family that he would not be with them long. His memory will live long in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. The bereaved widow, with whom he had lived happily for twenty-five years, feels her great loss very keenly, and has the sympathy of a large circle of friends. The remains were taken to Bridgeport on Wednesday for interment, and were followed by a large cortege, some thirty vehicles being in the procession. A large number of Bridgeport friends joined the procession a mile below town and followed the remains to the grave, where Judge Whitman read the Catholic service very impressively, and thus were put to rest the remains of one who will long be remembered by all who had known him."
