HOOPER – Wendell Howard Martineau, 86, loving patriarch of our family, passed away Friday, December 30, 2011, at his home in Hooper, Utah.
He was born September 10, 1925, in the Mormon Colony of Chuichupa, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Charles Henry and Florence Whetten Martineau.
He faithfully served his country during the Korean War, in the U.S. Army Intelligence.

Wendell married KayEnnis Whiting November 26, 1956, in the Mesa Arizona LDS Temple. They enjoyed 55 wonderful years together. She preceded him in death on October 25, 2011.

He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints serving in many positions. He served an LDS mission in Mexico from 1945 – 1948. He served a building mission with his wife and children in Guatemala. He also served a Temple mission in Uruguay.

Wendell retired from construction and then spent the last 20 years passionately working on genealogy. He also loved archeology and gardening.

He is survived by his children; Wayne (Ronna) Martineau, Tammy (Jim) Simmonds, Cheryl (John) Scott, Charles (Linda) Martineau, Wyatt (Blankie) Martineau, James (Jennifer) Martineau, John (Lori) Martineau, Jayson (Sara) Martineau, 38 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and daughter, Connie.

Funeral Services was held Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at 1:00 p.m., at the Pioneer Trail Ward, 5000 South 5900 West, Hooper, Utah, with Bishop Dale R. Fowers officiating.
