Ira E. Fuhrman, 88, of 700 Maple Ave., Hanover, died Sunday morning, Nov. 7, at his home.

Born in Hanover, he was the son of the late Edward W. and Minnie Estella (Miller) Fuhrman. He was the husband of Katherine E. (Sneeringer) Fuhrman, to whom he was married for 43 years.

He was the owner and operator of the Conewago Dairy from 1932 to his retirement in 1964.

He was a member of the Hanover Moose and the McSherrystown Home Association. He was also past president of the Twin Maples Raceway and served on the Conewago Township School Authority board since 1958. In 1936, he began serving on the board of the Farmer's Bank of McSherrystown, continuing throughout his life, the latter time of which he was named to the Advisory Board of what had become Adams County National Bank.

In his spare time, he was an avid fan of pony racing for many years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Loretta M. Harrison of Randallstown, Md.; and Barbara A. Louser of Longwood, Fla.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Curvin Fuhrman of New Oxford; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, 269 Frederick St., Hanover, with the Rev. Philip K. Nace, officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover. Friends may call Tuesday evening at the funeral home as well as Wednesday one hour prior to the funeral service.
