He married Marie Mayer, G8Q6-PC7. Marie was born Mineola, Nassau Co., New York, about 1918; daughter of Elizabeth and John Mayer.

He enlisted for the duration of the war at Camp Upton, Yaphank, New York, May 17, 1944, as a Private, born in North Carolina, 4 years of high school, married.

He served as a Private in the 142nd Infantry, 36th Infantry Division, in World War II.
