Son of Lewis and Martha "Patsy" James Vandiver. Husband of Anna Matilda Eskridge, married 03 DEC 1815 in Wood County, West Virginia by Rev. Reece Wolf, Methodist Episcopal minister, though some Vandivers say 14 Dec 1815 .

Occupation: a Justices of the Peace Shelby County, Missouri
Note: present when the first term of the county court was held at his house. Also a farmer.

Note: Abraham had the first house in Shelbyville, made of huge hewed logs one and one-half stories high south of the southwest corner of square. He also had an inn, called the 'Court House', until the first court house was completed in Dec 1838. He performed first marriage in the County, donated land to the town and dug the town well. He was also Assessor.
