"Karl Quentin Sparky Fisher, 90, of Bethlehem Township, passed away Monday, October 12, 2009, in his home, surrounded by his family. He and his wife Dora G. (Flohr) Fisher shared more than 68 years of marriage. Mr. Fisher had been a resident of Bethlehem Township since 1947. Born on November 8, 1918 in Thurmont, Md., he was the son of the late Harry and Mae (Strine) Fisher. Mr. Fisher was a World War II veteran, having served in the Army from 1941-1945. He served in the Southwest Pacific in New Guinea as a Staff Sergeant. He worked for thirty years as the maintenance superintendent for Mill Realty Company at the plant on Goepp St. (known as the Old Bethlehem Silk Mill). For twenty years a member of St. Johns E.U.B. Church, Mr. Fisher served as a trustee and Sunday School Superintendent. He had been a member of Ebenezer Bible Fellowship for the past thirty years and was an elder for a number of years. He was a Boy Scout leader for 10 years and a member of an elementary school PTA. Survivors: A beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, he is survived by his wife; sons, Garland Fisher and his wife Linda of Douglasville, and David Q. Fisher and his wife Marcia of Walls, Miss.; daughter, Kristie Myers and her husband Harvey of Bethlehem; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one great-grandson, Sullivan Farrar. Services: Calling hours are Thursday, October 15 from 6-8 p.m. at the Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden St, Bethlehem and Friday from 10-11 a.m. at the Ebenezer Bible Fellowship Church, 3100 Hecktown Road, Bethlehem Township, followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. at the Church."
