He married Rhoda Pitchlynn on Jan. 15, 1828 in Missisippi. They removed, in 1841, with many other Choctaws, along the Trail of Tears and settled on the east side of the Mountain Fork River, near present day Eagletown. Mr. Howell had a large plantation that was worked by many slaves and it adjoined the large plantation of John Pitchlynn.
