Mary Boutilier was a victim of the Halifax Explosion. She was killed along with her mother, seven siblings, her grandmother, husband and two small sons.

She was a member of the extended Jackson family of Halifax. It is believed this family suffered the worse losses from the Explosion. Around sixty-six members of the extended family were in Halifax at the time and forty-five died.

She was the daughter of Vincent MacDonald and Margaret Jackson.

Mary married Carroll Boutilier on 22 Jan 1917. They had two sons:

Vincent (1915-6 Dec 1917)
Carroll, Jr (Aug 1917-6 Dec 1917).

At the time of the explosion, Mary and her little family were living her her parents and siblings at 1498 Barrington Street.

Barrington Street was one of the hardest hit streets.

The charred remains of Mary and her family were buried in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Her son, Vincent, was never found.
