Motorboat Fire Takes Two Lives

Houston, Tex., July 25 - AP - Two men were drowned and a third barely escaped with his life when the trio jumped overboard to escape a burning motorboat in Cedar Bayou near the Kilgore shipyards Thursday afternoon.

Ambulance attendants and firemen from Goose Creek were dragging the bayou for Dickie Dittman and Lloyd Johnson. John Voparil, who lived on the banks of the bayou a short distance from the scene of the accident succeeded in swimming to safety after Dittman and Johnson sank.

Voparil told ambulance attendants that the three had been working on the boat and that they had started to pour fuel in the tank of an outboard motor when the gas became ignited and exploded.
