Passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2011, at the age of 96. Beloved husband of the late Eunice. Dear friend of Darly Mathukutty. Bert was the loving father of daughter Kim (Sam) Bagoon. Uncle of Sandra (Ron) Sroka and many nieces and nephews. Brother of the late Mary, Agnes, and Harry.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday December 21st from 2 until 8 pm. Service for Bert will be on Thursday the 22nd at 11 am at the funeral home.

Family suggests memorials to Alzheimers Association, 20300 Civic Center Drive Ste #100, Southfield, MI 48076, or Livonia Church of Christ.

Bert was born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. He dropped out of high school to help support his family. He enjoyed hockey bowling and at one time had the highest triple in Hamilton.

His family relocated to Detroit, where his brother, Harry told him to stay home to take care of their mother, and Harry joined the Army. Bert was later drafted as well. He served in Germany during WWII as a prison guard, near heavy artillery, which damaged his hearing. After the war, he worked for Ford Motor Co. for 30 years. After retiring from Ford, he did construction for 10 years.
