Harry A. Betz, 94, 521 Fourth Ave., Gallipolis, died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 1992 at his residence. He was born July 12, 1898 in Patriot, son of the late Timothy V. and Ethel Gooch Betz. He was a retired employee of the Gallipolis Developmental Center, a member of the First Baptist Church, Judson Sunday School Class, and Morning Dawn Lodge #7 F & A. Survivors include one daughter, Loeta "Pete" Abblett of Gallipolis; one son, James N. Betz of Gallipolis; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; one brother, Hanley Betz of Reynoldsburg; and two sisters, Mildred Bumgardner of Chillicothe, and Geneva Haskins of Gallipolis. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary E. Straight Betz; two sons, Kenneth Betz and John Carroll Betz; and two grandchildren. Services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mound Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. Masonic services will be conducted by Morning Dawn Lodge #7 F & AM at 8 p.m. Pallbearers will be Ronnie, Eric, and John Keenan, Larry, Tom, Tim, and John Betz, and Richard Ellwanger.
