Boise - Ann Morgan Young formerly of Inkom, died Friday, March 27, 1998, at her home in Boise surrounded by her loving family.
Vigil service will be at 7 p.m. tonight, March 29, 1998, at Cloverdale Funeral Home, 1200 N, Cloverdale Rd., Boise. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, March 30, 1998, at St. Mark's Catholic Church, corner of Cloe Road, and Northview, Boise. Presiding will be the Rev. John W. Morgan of Our Lady of Snows Catholic Church of Sun Valley, Idaho. Burial will follow at Cloverdale Cemetery, Boise.
Ann was born Nov. 30, 1931, in Pocatello to Weldon and Frances Maly Morgan. She attended school in Inkom, Idaho. In 1946 she moved with her family to Nampa, Idaho, where she attended Nampa High School, graduating in 1949.
She began nursing training at Providence Hospital in Portland, Ore. , receiving her R. N. degree in 1952.
She married Donald Allen Young on 2 Jun 1956 in Nampa, Canyon, Idaho, USA.
After moving to California, she began working at Kaiser Medicine Center in Palo Alto. Following their relocation to Nampa, she worked at Mercy Medical Center, where in 1969, she became associate director of nursing.
she was promoted to vice president/nursing service in 1977.
In 1988 she received her BS North Windham. Maine. She also received her trauma nurse specialist certification from Chicago County Hospital in Chicago, Ill.
Ann served on the State Board of Nursing and was involved in establishing a program for impaired nurses. She was also widely known in the community for her contributions to nursing, including assisting the training of paramedics at Mercy medical Center.
She later worked as a nurse consultant for several nursing home corporations, including The Beverly Corporation and Hill Haven/Vencor.
She became the director of clinical operations at Vencor, retiring from this position in Nov. 1997.
She was recently honored by Vencor with the establishment of the Ann Young Award for Excellence in Care.
Ann worked tirelessly on behalf of the elderly , and her goal was to ensure the best of care for each individual patient.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Theresa and Tony Houston, Meridian; Judie and Kevin Shaffer, Goodyear, AZ, Mary and Jeff Klingler, Donald Young, Ann and Dave Wright, all of Boise.
Her loving grandchildren are Amanda, Teddi, and Sarah Houston, Kristopher and Michael Shaffer, Guy and Mary Klinger, Tiffany McCormick, John, Judie, and Joyann Young, Laura, Chrissy and Thomas Wright.
She is also survived by her brother Father John Morgan, Sun Valley; her sisters and spouses, Johanna and Frank Schmidt, Post Falls, Idaho; Francie and Chuck Link, Boise and a stepsister and her husband, Uva and Morris, Dallas, TX.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Ed, and her husband, Don.
