Written on back of cabinet card photo - "Miss Mary Kate Newman at town LaFayette, Ala."
It is unclear if this is her husband E. P. Bosworth and child William E. Bosworth, born Oct. 7, 1910. The picture appears to be earlier than 1910 and she may be posed with a male relative and child. It also seems that she would be identified as Mary Kate Bosworth if she were already married. Photo from the collection of Mrs. Sara A. Yancey, LaFayette, AL.

Note: Edward Pierce Bosworth (1887-1953), remarried after Mary Kate's death and died in Birmingham, AL. Son William E. Bosworth (1910-1996) died in Jacksonville, FL.
==========
"The LaFayette Sun" - February 26, 1908:

The musical entertainment at Rock Spring Academy last Friday night was pronounced a success with Miss Mary Kate Newman, of LaFayette, and Mr. Chas. McKee, of Rock Spring, furnishing the music, which was interspersed with dialogues, recitations, etc., pertaining to the birth and life of George Washington. A large crowd was present, and the best of order prevailed.
Among the number who stood a successful examination at a recent meeting of the Board of Examiners, we are glad to note that Miss Mary Kate Newman received her report Saturday, signed by the proper authorities, which qualifies her as a teacher.
==========
"The LaFayette Sun" - April 21, 1908:

Miss Mary Kate Newman, an accomplished young lady of the "Peak", has secured a position in the fashionable millinery store of Mrs. Gertrude Frazier, where she will be pleased to wait on her lady friends.

AND...in the October 22 issue:

Gone But Not Forgotten.

It has pleased the Omnipotent Father to take from our midst our friend, Mrs. Mary Kate Bosworth, nee Miss Newman. The beautiful funeral service was held at the home of her sister, Mrs. Willie Bullock, where a large number of relatives and friends paid their last respects to her memory. Her life will always be a sweet memory to her loved ones and friends. Let us think of her as living with God and the angels in that beautiful home on high. She endured her sufferings with a sweet submission and quiet patience.
We commend the broken-hearted to God. Look up through your tears and out of broken hearts and say "Father, not my will, but Thine, be done."

One who loved her. - Mrs. J. W. Hunter, LaFayette, Alabama.
