Arthur Monroe "Roe" Gosser was born on Dec. 19, 1919, and passed away on Dec. 29, 2007, at the Eastern Kentucky Veterans Center in Hazard, Ky., having attained the age of 88.

He was the fifth child of John Harrison Gosser Jr. and Nancy Frances Roy. He has two surviving brothers, Amos and Gene Gosser.

Arthur "Roe" Gosser was married to Ruby Wilson on Sept. 5, 1945, in Jamestown, Ky. Their 62 year marriage was blessed by four daughters, Kay (and David) Spillman, Jeanie (and Mark) Rice, Peggy (and Pat) Picard and Cindy (and Steve) Rogers; and seven grandchildren, Forrest Spillman, Molly and Daniel Rice, John and Tyler Picard, and Emily and Claire Rogers. Mrs. Gosser also survives her husband.

His parents and three brothers, Alfred, Ernest and Elvern Gosser and a sister, Zelma Emerson, precede Mr. Gosser in death.

Arthur Gosser served for three years in the 9th Air Force during World War II in Normandy, France, Rhineland and England. After the war he returned to the United States and was a farmer and home builder in Pulaski County Kentucky.

Mr. Gosser was an inspiration to his children and grandchildren serving as a role model and encourager. His peers also respected him as a gentle and caring man. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post in Somerset, Ky.

Arthur Monroe Gosser will be buried in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens with military rites conducted by the American Legion Post # 38 on Jan. 2, 2008.

Funeral Services will be on Jan. 2, 2008, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home.

Family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Pulaski Funeral Home on Jan. 1, 2008.

In lieu of flowers family request that donations take form of contribution to Hospice of Hazard Mountain Community 3115 N. Main Suite 101 Hazard, Ky. 41701.
