The arrow points to where Coach Crowe is entombed in Court of Apostles, Section 2A, Level 5, Crypt 36D in the southernmost of the three buildings.

Court of Apostles, Section 2A, Level 5, Crypt 36D.

Inscription: Ray Crowe became the head coach at Cripus Attucks High School in 1950. His teams compiled a 193-20 winning record that included two back to back state high school championships. The 1955 Crispus Attucks High School basketball team was the first Indianapolis high school to win the Indiana State Basketball Championship. The team was also the first African-American high school in Indiana and the nation to win a state basketball championship. The 1956 Cripus Attucks High School basketball team won the state championship again without a single defeat. After retiring from coaching at "Attucks", he continued his record of firsts, when in 1976, he became the first African-American to be appointed by the mayor of Indianapolis to the position of Director of the Indianapolis Parks and Recreation Department. Donated by his friends and the Cripus Attucks High School Alumni of 1950.
