Phyllis V. Trapp, 85, of Newton, Illinois, formerly of Flora, Indiana, passed away Thursday, December 15, at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois. She was also known as "Mom T" by the girls at the Pi Beta Phi sorority house at Purdue University where she was house mother for several years.

In 1968 she married Frederick E. Trapp who preceded her in death in 1982. Her parents, Frank Aldrich and Blanche Ferguson Aldrich; her brother, Col. John Richard Aldrich; her sisters, Hilda Blubaugh, Elsie Young, and Sybil Titus also preceded her in death.

Phyllis, who was born in Boone County, Indiana, on February 2, 1926, graduated from Rossville High School in 1944 and went directly to Wright Field (now known as Wright-Patterson AFB) and worked in budget and fiscal under Civil Service until the end of World War II.

She was a loan officer at Bright National Bank in Flora, Indiana, owned her own children's clothing store, Trapp's Tiny Togs, also in Flora. After that, she became a house mother at Purdue. A job she truly loved. Phyllis was also a 50-year member of the Flora Order of Eastern Star. She loved to play bridge, work crossword puzzles, and do beautiful counted cross stitch.

Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Terry Herndon and her dear son-in-law, Alan of Newton, Illinois; her daughter, Jeffra Thornton, her step-daughters, Marlene Butcher of Bringhurst, and Marcia Giddens, of Logansport, grandson, David Herndon (Melanie) of Glen Carbon, Illinois, step-grandsons, Adam Butcher of Bringhurst, Kevin Giddens of Logansport; granddaughters, Marcie Penn (Doug) of Logansport, Vickie Brooks (Jim) of Idaho, and step-granddaughter Andrea Cable (Mark) of Bringhurst, and twelve great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her one remaining sibling, Phillip Aaron Aldrich (Jo-Ann) of Niles, Michigan, and her very special brother-in-law Alonzo Titus of Mulberry.

Visitation will be Tuesday, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Baker-Abbott Funeral Home, Flora. Service there Wednesday at 10:00 a.m., Pastor Dan Butcher officiating. Burial at Musselman Cemetery, Camden.
