Retired Business Man Was One of Colrain's Best Known Residents
Shelburne Falls, Aug. 6 - The funeral of Charles A Marcy, 76, who died at his home in Colrain on Wednesday, after a short illness, will be held at the home tomorrow at 1.30 p.m. with Rev E R Hunt, pastor of the Colrain Congregational church, officiating and will be in charge of the Knights Templar. Burial will be in the Branch cemetery. Mr. Marcy was a native of Leyden, but had been a resident of Colrain for about 55 years. He was in the stove and tinware business for over 25 years, retiring about eight years ago. He had spent the severe winter months in Florida, returning to Colrain for the summer.
He was one of the best known men of Colrain. He was always active in the town work, serving at one time on the board of selectmen. He was also second president of the Shelburne Falls and Colrain Street Railway. He was a member of Mountain lodge of Masons and Mary Lyon chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, The Knights Templar and Shriners.
Besides his widow he is survived by four sisters, Mrs William VanNess, Mrs Ransom Sheldon, Mrs. U T Darling, all of Ashfield, and Mrs John Pierson of White Plains, N.Y. A brother, Gilbert Marcy, died about two years ago.
