William B. Iverson, beloved husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend went to be with the Lord Aug. 13, 2006, after a courageous battle with kidney cancer. Bill was born April 18, 1924, to Fred and Martha Iverson and grew up on a farm near Hitterdal, Minn. He married Ruth E. Mattson on Feb. 14, 1945. They moved to Cutbank, Mont., where their two daughters were born. Bill spent his entire working career as a journeyman plumber beginning in Cutbank, Mont., then Glendale, Calif., and finally in Pueblo, Colo. Bill was a faithful member of Hope Lutheran Church and King of Kings Lutheran Church where he served as a choir member and on various church committees. Bill's lifelong passion was music and he belonged to the local chapter of the Barbershoppers as a charter member for 37 years singing bass in many quartets and choruses. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ruth E. Iverson; two daughters, Kathleen Iverson, Pueblo, and Louise (Brent) Holtcamp, Colorado Springs; two grandchildren, Jorgan and Britta Holtcamp, Colorado Springs; two sisters, Evelyn Wheeler, Moorehead, Minn., Della (Frank) Fredrickson, Phoenix, Ariz.; and one brother, Harold (Margie) Iverson, Fargo, N.D.; as well as many nieces and nephews. Bill will be remembered and missed by family and friends for his wonderful smile and sense of humor, his willingness to help others and his silent strength of character. Cremation has taken place. Memorial service to celebrate Bill's life, 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, 2006, King of Kings Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bill may be made to the King of Kings Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 2561 Vinewood Lane, Pueblo, CO, 81005, or to the Sangre de Cristo Hospice, 1207 Pueblo Boulevard Way, Pueblo, CO, 81005.
