RUTH'S OBITUARY
Ruth Eleanora Iverson went peacefully home to be with Jesus, her beautiful Lord and Savior on March 2, 2021 at the age of 94 after several years of decline from dementia. For the last year, during Covid, Ruth had been lovingly taken care of by the "Angels" at Freedom Home Assisted Living and New Century Hospice. For them we will be forever grateful!
Ruth was the 12th of 13 children born to Mathias and Lena (Ellingson) Mattson in Hitterdahl, Minnesota. She is the last to join her family in Heaven. She married William B. Iverson on February 14, 1945. They lived in Cutbank, Montana where their two daughters were born, then Glendale, California for nine years and finally settled in Pueblo, Colorado beginning in 1961. Ruth retired as a beautician from the Colorado State Hospital and always enjoyed sewing, reading, gardening and entertaining friends and family.
Ruth was Norwegian through and through. Her parents met on the boat as teenagers coming to America from Norway. She had Norwegian hospitality and loved all the Norwegian traditions. She was even known to make lots of Lefsa for the Christmas celebrations at King of Kings Lutheran Church in Pueblo where they were members for many, many years.
Ruth and Bill had dedicated their lives to caring for their daughter, Kathleen, who was disabled from birth. Kathy has thrived all her life mainly because of their great love and devotion and her close relationship with her sister, Louise.
Ruth is survived by her two daughters, Kathleen Iverson and Louise (Brent) Holtcamp who live now in Colorado Springs, CO. Also surviving Ruth are her precious grandchildren; Britta (Chris) Hoffman and Jorgan (Jessica) Holtcamp; three great granddaughters, Jolie, Jaycie and Jade, who lovingly called her Grandma Ruth. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Ruth was dearly loved by many and will be greatly missed.
There will be a small family memorial at a later date, when she will be entombed next to her loving husband at the columbarium at King of Kings Lutheran Church in Pueblo, Colorado.
