Mrs. Mary Ann (Jonathon) Allen, daughter of Hezikiah and Sarrah B. Hutchins, was born in Morgan, Co., Ohio, Nov. 9, 1835 and died Dec 31, 1907 at the age of 72 yrs, 1 mo and 22 days.

She was married to Jonathon Allen Nov 29, 1855 and to them were born 12 children: 6 sons and 6 daughters. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband and the 7 living children: Eliza A. Johnson, Lydia J Essick, Alfred A. Allen, Whitley H Allen, Mildia O Davis, Mary M Dietz, and Sarrah F Headrick.

Her mother died when she was young leaving her to care for the rest of the family. She spent her school days in Ohio, coming to Iowa at the age of 18 with her father and the rest of the family.

She joined the M.E. Church when about 22 and lived a devoted Christian the rest of her life. She loved her home and family but God has taken her to a better home, whence no traveler returns.
