Goshen - Mabel Bauman, 92, of 1225 Greencroft Drive, formerly of Lexington Drive, died at 7:45 pm Thursday (Feb 16, 2006) at her residence, where she had been since October 2005.

She was born Feb 6, 1914, in Nappanee, to Dan and Ida (Weaver) Ramer. She married the Rev Amos S Bauman on June 7, 1934, in Nappanee. He died July 3, 1989.

She is survived by three daughters, a son, 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren & two sisters.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Miriam Slabaugh; a brother, Floyd Ramer; and two sisters-in-law, Selina Ramer and Anna Martin.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Sunday at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S Main St, Goshen, and one hour prior to the 10:30 am Monday funeral service at East Goshen Mennonite Church. Eli Schmucker and the Rev Steve Slagel, both of the church, and James Hochstetler will officiate. Burial will be in Yellow Creek Cemetery.

Mrs Bauman was a member of Family Worship Center at the Light House. She was a homemaker; 160 residents of Oaklawn stayed at her home over the course of 23 years. Along with her husband, she was instrumental in starting the Gospel Lighthouse and East Goshen Mennonite Church. They were court-appointed foster parents for many years and also housed Bethany Christian High School students.

She was an avid quilter and liked to crochet.

Memorials may be given to Faith Mission or Family Worship Center at the Light House.
