Helen Minnie Kinney, 82 of Kimball, died on Friday April 2, 2004 at the Kimball County Manor. A funeral service was held on Monday April 5, 2004 at the Cantrell Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Roger Gillming officiating. Burial was in the Dix Rural Cemetery. Visitation was Sunday April 4. A memorial has been established to the Kimball County Manor. Cantrell Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
Helen was born on May 10, 1921 north of Kimball to John and Hazel (Wood) Jessop. They moved their farmstead north of Potter. She married Elmer Holliday; they later divorced. Helen and Charles Kinney were united in marriage on January 14, 1947 in Kimball. They and their family moved to Grant, where Charlie farmed. They later moved back to the Potter-Dix area, residing in Dix in 1951. Helen has been a resident of the Kimball County Manor for the past eighteen years.
Helen enjoyed embroidering, cooking, and her family.
She is survived by three sons: Wayne and wife Pat Holliday of Hazelton, Iowa; John and wife Jodi Kinney of Kimball, and David Kinney; one daughter Vi and husband David Neil of LaPorte City, Iowa; one brother Jim and wife Shirlee Jessop of Vinton, Iowa; two sisters, Lily Scheib of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Mary Allen of Waterloo, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Charles Kinney, on March 14, 1994, one son Francis Holliday, one daughter Clara LaRue; a grandson Roy Medbery, Jr.; two brothers and two sisters.
