Sergeant McNeill served with the 302nd Bomb Group, 356th Bomb Squadron at Wendover Field, Utah.

He was one of six airmen who perished when U.S. Army Air Corps B-24D Liberator #41-11695 crashed on the Bonneville Salt Flats, northeast of the airfield.
