Melvin Addicks, 86, of Brenham, passed away Saturday, June 26, 2004 in Trinity Medical Center.

Melvin John Addicks was born Jan. 26, 1918 in Sandy Hill to Emil and Theresa (Thim) Addicks. He was baptized March 10, 1918 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Sandy Hill and confirmed April 9, 1933 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Phillipsburg. He was educated in the Washington County public school system and Blinn College. On Jan. 2, 1942 he married Gladys Glaser at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Melvin served his country in the Army during World War II. He was retired from LaRoche Chevrolet and from the Brenham Clinic Association.

Melvin was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, American Legion Buddy Wright Post #48, DAV and Sons of Hermann.

His loving family includes: wife, Gladys Addicks of Brenham; sons, Donald Addicks and wife Debbie of Whitehall, Jimmie Addicks of Houston; daughters, Linda Priesmeyer and husband Jimmy of Brenham, Mary Ann Lehmann and husband David of Houston; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Esther Roehling of Brenham; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends today from 6-8 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral service will be Tuesday June 29, 2004 at 10 a.m. in Christ Lutheran Church with the Rev. Arnie Lundborg officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.

Memorials may be given to Christ Lutheran Church.

Funeral services are in the care of Brenham Memorial Chapel, 2300 Stringer St., Brenham.
