Dies in Columbia;
Rites Set Wednesday
AIKEN, July 14 - Mrs. Ardella Franklin Derrick, 72, of Johnston Route 2, died at a Columbia Nursing home at 1:30 this afternoon after an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at 11 o'clock Wednesday morning from the Phillipi Baptist Church near Johnston with the Rev. R. W. McKinney and the Rev. V. M. Forrester officiating.
Survivors include her husband, J. M. Derrick of Johnston Route 2; four daughters, Mrs. M. L. Cullum of Bridgeton, N.J., Mrs. C. L. Eddins of Columbia, Mrs. J. M. Booher of Trenton, Ill., and Mrs. T. C. Carson of Johnston; two sons, L. C. Derrick of Greensboro, N.C., and H. O. Derrick of Columbia; one sister, Mrs. Kella Clark of Saluda; three half-sisters, Mrs. Letha Cartledge of North Augusta, and Mrs. Strom and Mrs. Annabclle Reames of Columbia; one brother, T. B. Franklin of Augusta; one half-brother, the Rev. John Jackson of the Philippine Islands; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Derrick was a life-long resident of the Philippi community of Edgefield County and a devoted member of Philippi Baptist Church. Her death came after an extended illness.
