The following information is from his obituary from the Beatrice Daily Sun, Beatrice, NE May 3, 1912.

Born 7 May 1853 in Marshall Co., Illinois and died Beatrice, Gage Co., Nebraska.

Son of Josiah & Rachel Hammett.

He married Amanda T. Day Oct.29, 1876. They had 8 children. Five survived him. He was buried next to his three children in Pawnee, Nebraska.
