Glover, Charles Carroll: Financier. President Riggs National Bank since its organization, July 1, 1896; vice-pres. Capital Traction Co.; treasurer, Am. U. (Methodist); trustee, P.E. Cathedral Foundation; ex-pres Washington Stock Exchange. Born Nov. 24, 1846, on a farm in Macon Co., N.C.; son of Charles and Caroline (Piercy) Glover. Clerk in book store 3 years prior to entering, at age of 19, employ of Riggs & Co., bankers, as clerk; became partner in firm, 1873. Inaugurated and successfully carried through Congress projects for establishing of Rock Creek and Potomac parks, and securing for D.C. site for Fort Reno Reservoir. Was a member of the committee, appointed by President Roosevelt, to receive funds for Martinique sufferers; member, federal com. on changing date of Inaugural of President of U.S.; member Washington Nat'l Monument Soc.; vice-pres. and treasurer Corcoran Gallery of Art.
