Ruth Lee Abbott, 69, died Wednesday in St. Joseph Medical Center.
The West Virginia native retired in 1977 as head of the home economics department of South Side High School. Later she worked as a realtor for Century 21 and resident manager of Peabody Home in North Manchester. She was a member, former elder and treasurer of the women's association of Bethany Presbyterian Church, conservateer of Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory, treasurer of the condominium association at Colony Bay Apartments, and volunteer at the Food Bank.
Surviving are daughters, Dianne Noble-Lengerich of Fort Wayne and Karen Templeton of Scottsville, Ky; a son, Steven R. of Fort Wayne; a sister, Miriam Ownby of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; brothers, William Lee of Toledo, Ohio, and Jess Lee of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and three grandchildren.
Services are 2 p.m. tomorrow in the church, with burial in Lindenwood Cemetery. Calling is 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Homes, Wayne Street Chapel, 420 W. Wayne St. Preferred memorials are gifts to the church or botanical conservatory.
