L. Jean Ritthaler, 78, of Morton, passed away at 11 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, 2011, at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton. She died peacefully with her family by her side.
She was born Sept. 29, 1933, in Peoria to Robert F. and Dorothy S. (Brooks) Knoll. She married Arthur L. Ritthaler on Nov. 1, 1953, in Morton.
Surviving are her husband of Morton; two sons, Daniel Ritthaler of Peoria and Darrell (Kim) Ritthaler of Germantown Hills; two daughters, Deborah (Keith) Moser of Morton and Diane Smith of Peoria; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two half sisters, Gail Blankenship and Janet Shepler, both of Peoria; and one half brother, William Shepler of Peoria.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A homemaker, Jean had worked as a sales representative for Mary Kay Cosmetics for many years.
Jean was a member of Grace Church in Morton and its church choir. She also was a member of two vocal trio groups and served as past president of women's ministries at the church.
She was a former member of the Morton Women's Club.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 9, 2011, at Grace Church in Morton, with Pastor Tim Bertsche officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton, and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in the Groveland Mennonite Church Cemetery.
