She was a native of Ware County where she had lived most of her life. She was a former resident of Albany for thirty five years.
She was the daughter of the late Robert Leon Grant and Lottie Quarterman Grant. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Durwood Ulysses Grant and a sister, Doris Juanita Jeffers.
She was a Corp Cadet with the Salvation Army and during the 1950's assisted with their bookkeeping. She was past matron of the Albany Chapter #450 of the Order of the Eastern Star and had earned the Gold Star Proficiency Award. Mrs. Dixon had been active in Cub Scouts and Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) with her children. She was a 1945 graduate of Wacona High School and had attended Valdosta State College.
Survivors include her husband of sixty-three years, Jasper L. Dixon, Sr. of Waycross; a daughter, Sheryl Delane Dixon Musil (husband Gary L.) of Charleston, SC; two sons, Jasper L. Dixon, Jr. (wife Cathryn) of Atlanta, and Jay Mark Dixon of Charleston, SC; two grandchildren, Misty Danielle Musil of Seattle, WA and Christopher Mark Musil (wife Tiffany) of Charleston, SC; four great grandchildren, Megan Danielle Berry, Jenzen Gary Musil, Shanti Crim, and Naia Crim; a sister, Glenda Gordon (husband David) of Dothan, AL; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Music Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 10, 2011) at Music Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
