Daughter of Richard Comfort (1787 - 1840) and Hannah Deved Comfort (1783 - 1882). Lavinia Comfort was a school teacher, and devoted to developing Sunday schools, missionary societies, and Boys Clubs. She married Deacon Garrett Compton in 1848, raised his eight children, but he died in 1856. She then became the second wife of Lyman Reynolds in 1861. She died age 91, passing in her Mansfield home, remembered by family and friends for her Christianity, saintly living, and devotion to the Temperance Movement.
