OBITUARY: "After a long and painful illness, near Dowville, Iowa, March 2, 1877, Rev. O.F. Comfort, aged nearly 65. He was born near Elmira, NY; converted 25 Feb 1828; licensed to preach 8 Sep 1832; employed as a traveling preacher the 17th of Nov following; joined the Genesee Conference Sep 1835; transferred to the Wisconsin Conference by invitation June 1849; after being twice superannuated, located in 1856, and was 10 years in secular life; resumed his labors in the itinerancy of the Missouri Conference, 1869, as a missionary; admitted into the Missouri Conference, 1866; located March 1869. He served nerly (sic) 2 years as a supply in the Illinois and nearly one in the Southern Illinois conference. Thus closing his labors as an itinerant Methodist minister. Bro. Comfort was 44 years in the ministry and 28 in the pastorate. ..."
