Her maiden name was Abbie Coombs, and she was born at Rochester, Massachusetts, March 24th 1821.
In 1845 she was united in marriage to Mr. Gammons of the same state and in 1850 came with her husband to Wisconsin where they lived for 18 years. In 1868, they moved to Burr Oak, Mitchell county, where they resided till three years ago when they left the farm and came to Osage.
Mrs. Gammons was converted early in life and was an active and useful member of the Methodist church. For three or four years past she has been in failing health and waiting patiently for the time when death would relieve her suffering.
She was the mother of five children, two of whom survive-Rev. John Gammons, of Edgewood, Iowa, and
Mrs Helen L. Stillwell, of Pipestone, Minnesota.
Mrs Gammons was a lady of many womanly graces and virtues, her life being the exemplification of simplicity, here and patience, which she leaves as a precious legacy to her children.
