Prudence was born in Fulton County, Illinois, the daughter of Squire Meeker and Nancy Rhea Foutch. On January 15, 1877, she married John William Jenkins Farris in Bremer County. After John died in 1908 she lived with family members in Waterloo - and later with the family of her daughter Josephine Farris Rockwood in Cushing, Minnesota. She died there in 1919. She was returned for burial beside her husband in the Messinger Cemetery.
