Minna Adeline Bertha Kuether was born to Ferdinand and Augusta (Heebner) Kuether on February 18, 1889 in St. Paul. Her sister Emma described her as, "a quiet girl. The doctor said she had a blood sickness. The night she died we all sat in her bedroom until morning. She was in her early twenties also when she died." Her death certificate lists the cause of death as tuberculosis.

The Kuethers lost six of their children to TB while they were in their early 20's.
