Dink grew up helping to farm and ranch. He graduated from Beattie High School in 1946 and then ran the local general store in Beattie for many years. Dink and Martha moved to west Texas in 1948, living in Odessa, Lubbock, Abilene, Albuquerque and Amarillo. He retired to De Leon in 1988 and lived there until 2000. Dink was very active in community organizations, including the Morgan Mill Water Board and the De Leon Hospital Board. He worked in the grocery business all of his life and enjoyed working on 8N or 9N Ford tractors. He was a member of Morgan Mill Baptist Church. Dink enjoyed farming and visiting with people, and he loved his family very much. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed aggravating them.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Martha Keith; sons, Steven Dean Keith and wife, Sandra and Ricky Don Keith and wife, Darlene; daughter, Debbie Frances Keith Koonce and husband, Rickey; brothers, Connie Keith, Larry Keith and Neeley Keith; sister, Jean Dukes; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dink was preceded by his parents; and sister, Jo Welch.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at Morgan Mill Baptist Church. Brother Joe Rogers will officiate the service and Brother Jackie Auvenshine will officiate the graveside. Pallbearers will be "Tiger" Todd Keith, "RM" Rob Brown, "WAD" Jarrod Brown, "Widdy" Bill Keith, "Whopper" Chris Keith and "Koonce" Rickey Koonce. Honorary pallbearers will be great-grandchildren, Landon, Mason, Little Teeger, KinKade, Matthew, Isaac, Kendall, Kerrigan, Kallista, Kayla Rae, Kaitlyn and Hannah. "Ornery" pallbearers will be granddaughers, "Tator" Lynde Brown, "Fweets" Amanda Keith and "Hecky Becky" Ashley Keith. Burial will follow in Garden of Memories, Comanche County. Family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on Monday at Morgan Mill Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials maybe made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 841125, Dallas, Texas 75284-1125.
