Willis Cheek
Willis Alfred Cheek, 80, of Pinetree Rd., died Friday, Nov. 3, at the Banks-Jackson-Commerce Hospital in Commerce.
He was the son of the late Alen and Lela Davis Cheek and was born Dec. 10, 1908, in Stephens County where he resided his entire life. He retired from Trogdon Furniture Company after some 30 years of service. He attended Northside Baptist Church.
Surviving are wife, Beatrice Sosby Cheek; four daughters, Mrs. Melvin (Nell) Whittington of Maysville, Mrs. Don (Sue) Shirley of Toccoa, Mrs. Betty Ahearn of Roswell, and Mrs. Delbert (Vera) Erit of Comer; son, Alton Cheek of Carnesville; two sisters, Mrs. Kilburn (Ruth) Rumsey of Eastanollee, and Mrs. Leo (Mozelle) Davis of Toccoa; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Sunday from the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with the Rev. Perry Bailey officiating.
The following grandsons served as pallbearers: Randy Shirley, Mark Shirley, Ricky Cheek, Herbie Shirley, William Cheek and John Ahearn.
Interment was in Stephens Memorial Gardens.
