FERRIDAY — Services for Valrie Stewart, 78, of Ferriday, who died Monday, Sept. 1, 2008, at her residence, will be at 2 p.m. today at Sycamore Baptist Church with Brother Richard Cullum officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, in Natchez, under the direction of Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Mrs. Stewart was born April 3, 1930, in Noble, La., the daughter of Alex and Della Farmer. She was a homemaker and was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, W.L. Stewart; one daughter, Elda Dickson; her parents; one brother, Alton Santos; and one sister, Alma Lopez.

Survivors include one daughter, Velda Quinn and husband, Steve; one son, Sherman Dickson; one granddaughter, Cindy Sullivan and husband, Fred; three grandchildren, Michael and Mark Quinn and Bodie Dickson; four great-grandchildren, Kaitlin and Callie Sullivan and Harley and Devon Dickson; five brothers, Russell, Wade, Junior, J.T. and Orville Farmer; two sisters, Bernice Cope and Gracie Allen; and two nephews, Junior Farmer and Larry Manshack.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
