FRIERSON, LA - Funeral services will be held for SSGT. Alton Grady Santos, US Air Force Retired, 82, at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel at 10:00 a.m. Friday February 23, 2007. Officiating will be Father Larry Niehoff pastor of St. Ann's. Interment will follow with full military honors, at St. Ann's Catholic Church Cemetery in Stonewall, LA.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, February 22, 2007 from 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. with a prayer vigil at 7:30 p.m.

Alton Santos was born September 9, 1924 in Noble LA. to Martin and Della Santos . He passed away at his home February 20, 2007 in Frierson, LA.

Alton Santos, Honorably and faithfully performed his duty in the United States Air Force and retired in June 1964. He earned the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Korean Service Medal, and United Nations Service Medal and received a Purple Heart Commendation for combat in France. He served in Germany, England, France and Korea.

He was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Stonewall, LA, a 4th Degree, life member of the Knights of Columbus, Marion Council 3779.

Alton was preceded in death by his father and mother; his only son, John Alton Santos; brothers, Willis and Less Santos and Mother-in-Law Florence Manshack.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years Muriel Santos of Frierson, LA; daughters; Sharon Roach and husband Bobby Roach of Frierson, Ms. Judith Santos and friend Greg of Shreveport, Gwendolyn Santos and Friend Eva Poland of Heflin, LA, granddaughters; Denise Jones and Eric Womack of Greenwood, LA, Cyndi and Scott Swanson of Frierson, LA; great grandchildren, Jessica, Haley and Wayne Wisely, Alton James Swanson and Erica Womack and Sara Poland. He is also survived by his sister, Elma Lopez of Zwolle, LA, Bernice Cope of Staten Island, NY, Valerie Stewart of Vidalia, LA; brothers, Alex Farmer Jr. and wife Sue of Oklahoma, Wade Farmer and wife of Arkansas, James Farmer and wife Jean and Orville Farmer of Converse, LA, Rodney Farmer and wife Patsy of DeRidder, LA and many loving nieces and nephews.
