Arlene Hawkins Cline, 88, of Amarillo died Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011 in Phoenix, Ariz.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Pioneer Chapel with John Early, a Christian Science reader, officiating. Arrangements are by Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell St.

Mrs. Cline was born July 13, 1923, to Mildred and Arthur Farrington in Detroit. When she was a young child, her mother remarried John C. Cairnes in California, where Arlene lived until 1944.

On Oct. 2, 1943, Arlene married Phil H. Hawkins in San Francisco. They moved to his family home in Panhandle, where they farmed and ranched. Together they raised two children, Jerry and Cheri. Phil preceded her in death in 1969.

In 1970, she married Richard C. "Dick" Cline. They resided in Amarillo and Phoenix. They were huge fans of the Phoenix Suns, attended all of their games and had many dear friends in Phoenix. He preceded her in death in 1999.

Arlene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-
grandmother and friend to many. She had many very dear friends in Amarillo and Panhandle. She was an active member of the Christian Science Church in Amarillo since moving to Texas in the late 1940s. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Clokey.

Survivors include a son, Jerry Hawkins of Amarillo; a daughter, Cheri Vidlak and husband Tony of Santa Fe, N.M.; six grandchildren, Shalene Rounsville and husband Steve, Chandra "Tina" Land and husband Justin, Haley Goad and husband Kily, Theron Howard III and wife Kati, Denise Mulkey and Caprice McLean and husband Jim; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Carroll Cairnes; and a sister,
Patricia Anderson.
