Elsie Mitchell, 83, of New Providence died of a heart ailment Tuesday at Colonial Manor in Zearing.
Services at Honey Creek New Providence Friends Church, of which she was a member. The body has been donated to the University of Iowa School of Anatomy. Burial at Sheppard Cemetery near Union at a later date.
Mrs. Mitchell was born in Mahaska County and had lived in the New Providence area many years. She had taught school and was a member of the New Providence Music-Art Drama Club and Christian Women's Club.
Surviving are two daughters, Jean Perry of New Providence and Lois Mitchell of Vicenza, Italy; three sons, Miles of Des Moines, Ellis of Burlington, and Glen of Pine Island, Minnesota; a brother Warren Alexander of Bettendorf; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
