Robert was the second child and first son of Hewett Anderson Beasley and Florence Diggs. He had two years of high school education. During WWII, he was in the Army stationed at Fort Monmouth NJ, running the power plant. He was a salesman and worked for Electrolux and also for Dutterers and selling encyclopedias. He married Ann Elizabeth (Betty) Johnston and they had three children.

The lived in Rogers Forge while he and Robert Jr built a house down on the shore in Anne Arundel county. They moved down there when Robert Jr was a senior in HS. After Robert's marriage and his mother's death, he divorced Betty and married Marilyn - it was Marilyn's first marriage. After he divorced Marilyn, he bought a house on Loch Raven, and married another woman named Marilyn who had children from a previous marriage.
