On December 7, 1886 in Johnson County, Texas, she was united in marriage to Samuel D. Rude. To this union were born seven children, three of whom, Milus E. Rude, Samuel D. Rude and Mrs. "Babe" Rude Pace, preceded their mother in death. The beloved husband died in 1938.

Mrs. Rude came to Greer County, Texas, in 1889 and homesteaded on Elm River, seven miles from what is now known as Mangum, Greer County, Oklahoma. She lived most of her mature life in, and around, Mangum. She was a Charter Member of the Central Christian Church in Mangum.

In approximately 1943, she moved to Hobart, Okla. and was living there with her daughter, Mrs. Hester Young, at the time of her death.

For the past 25 years, Mrs. Rude has been in ailing health and had been bedfast for the last two and one-half years. At last on the evening of last Wednesday, her pain and sickness all over, she gently closed her eyes in that sleep which knows no physical awakening.
