Mary Byrne Cosgrove Wamsley was born October 12, 1823, in County Mayo, Ireland. She arrived in the United States at the age of 17 on May 7, 1841. Her first husband was Michael Cosgrove (birth date unknown) and they had a son, Lawrence born January 6, 1850, and a daughter Mary Ann born shortly after Michael Cosgrove's death in 1854.
In 1956 Mary Byrne Cosgrove married Edward Wamsley. They moved to Canada for a time and they had several children: Jane, Edward, Edwin, George, and Josephine. Edward and Mary made their home to Stearns County, MN, where she died August 6, 1901. She is buried in Calvary Cemetery, Sauk Centre, MN along with many other relatives
