Jesse was born to Jesse Robert 1899-2002 and Ethel Carrie Compton Akers 1899-1986. He served in the 2nd Infantry of the US Army during WWII. He was serving in the Ardennes Forest in France, just before the Battle of the Bulge. He was injured by a stove blowing up and had to be sent back to England for his burns. The rest of his division went into battle in one of the worst battles in history. Jesse married Frieda Aline Wilson, July 14, 1940, prior to the war. They had two sons: William Edward 1945- and Robert Warren 1949. After Fried died in 1968, he married Grace Allen Price 1919-1989 in 1971, then he married Helen Jean McDonald 1935-2008 in 1994. He has six grandchildren: Abraham, Jennifer, Benjamin, Alison, James, and Seth Akers and has fourteen great grandchildren.
