Bert Bailey Dies at Oquawka Home

Oquawka, Ill.—Bert Bailey. 86, died at 4:50 p. m. in the Osborne convalescent home, where he had been cared for since Oct. 9. Born to Charles and Margaret Southe Bailey. Sept. 19,1856, at La Vell, Wis., he had liked most of his life here. He was never married. He lost one hand, the greater part of the other hand, and one eye firing a cannon at a celebration in Oquawka when he was 20 years old.
He was a brother of the late William and Henry Bailey of Oquawka and is survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements are incomplete, and the body is resting at the Osborne funeral home.
